    Unwanted Preview

I'm on course today. I am right now at CSC. Attending a BRANDING workshop. Very interesting. Makes me want to rush back to the office and tell the big bosses up there that they are doing things all wrong. ALL WRONG.

Anyways, I want to talk about the speaker. A mid thirties established female. Very nice and experienced person in the field. Just right for this kinda course. BUT. Say, have you even been to a course at IPAM or CSC? If you have, you will know that the place is darn cold. Very cold. So this trainer is obviously an external speaker, according to her credentials. She wears this pant suit, complete with a jacket - unbuttoned. And beneath the jacket, she is wearing this sleeveless neon green top with not that plunging neckline. Pretty modest and she's pretty flat chested. However, as the day progresses, the room gets colder. Soon.. it is very apparent to all in the class that she is NOT wearing anything inside. Soon .. she has two twin peaks staring at the class.

    Tsk tsk..

    Parky Mission

This Sept school holidays, we made it our mission to locate as many parks as we could, though the weather does not seem to cooperate much. We've been to Punggol Park and AMK Park before. Nothing to speak of. Of course, Bedok Reservoir Park is within walking distance. We've been to Bishan Park. As I mentioned, it is BIG. BIG. BIG. Three playgrounds to speak of. But the park is so big, we have difficulties in locating the other two. Or so we think. And we've been to West Coast. Big too. And sandy. We tried to fly our kite there. Unsuccessfully. Still, we all revert back to Pasir Ris Park. It's the only park I think I am most at ease.

Being a mother to not one, but TWO boys truly helps me keep young. At least in my heart. With them around, I can afford to goof around. With them around, I often make a fool of myself. And not feel guilty about it at all.

    Bigger Vocab

In June this year, we made the decision to move the boys out from their previous school at Tampines to a montessori school at Telok Kurau. Why?

Now, Imin is a very bright boy. I cannot help but see the potential in him. At 2 years, he is already spelling out his name and now he can read simple books and recite multiplication too. At times, he does Sudoku with Hubs. As this is my first time being a mother to a 4-year old, I do not know if this is normal. And I do not really care. We felt that his intelligience was not being tapped on fully at the previous education centre, so we decided to look for an alternative.

However, during the first few months, prior to the transfer, Imin was displaying 'withdrawal symptoms'. He went around telling his teachers and myself included that he would only go to the new montessori school in June and July and when August comes, he would go back to the education centre at Tampines. It was a worry at that time.

Which turned out to be base-less.

The boys enjoy their time there tremendously and now, when I asked Imin if he wanted to go back to the one at Tampines, he would say NO immediately. Of course, montessori teaching methods are different, compared to the usual classroom-based. And more expensive too. And imagine, in my case, it's x2 for everything!

But I can see the difference already. One day, Imin came home telling me about parts of his body. He even point to me the area where his rectum is. And just now, we were at the airport, looking at the plants on display. Suddenly, Pau2 cried out to me and said: Ibu! Look! A rainforest!

The snapshot below? It was the school during the recent Teacher's Day celebration.

    Play Place

For those with children under 5, you may want to check this out.

During one of the drives we made the past few days, we came across this cute tiny Play Place at McDonald's. It is just opposite AMK library and a few minutes drive away from Bishan Park. Anyways, this Play Place is nice. The boys loved playing there. There's many seats aorund, since there's also McCafe. I have to state that both myself and Hubs are NOT McDonald's fans. But that day, with so much space, and such ample parking space just outside the restaurant, that place was ideal. Hubs caught up with his Today reading, I browsed through the newly borrowed library books while the boys ran amuk at the Play Place.

And oh yes, if you are tired of the playground at the Play House, there's a park (I do not know what it is called) just outside it. Also, it houses another playground. And yes, it is 'sandy'.

    Secret of Marriage

Last couple of days, after 8pm, we drove out to the long strip along Changi Beach. We parked by the beach and stood looking at the planes landing at the airport. Because we were so near and close, the planes were very big and noisy. It was an experience.

Then, we decided to head home. Hubs asked if I wanted to try driving by the runway. I said, Why not. So, I took the driver's seat and settled in. I drove.

Then I felt something funny. In my tudung.

Frantically, I stopped the car. We were in the middle of the long, long road (just beside the runway) and thus the only witnesses (to what was about to unfold) were the planes. I was panicking and kept shouting to Hubs: Something inside my tudung! Something inside my tudung!

Both Hubs and I went out of the car. And ...

What happened next is anyone's guess. Anyways, after IT happened, Hubs was smiling and laughing. I was feeling sheepish. On my way to the driver's seat, I tapped him on the chest and said: Ini Rahsia Perkahwinan*. Keep it to yourself, ok?

    The Swing

We went to Pasir Ris Park the other day. We've been to several parks - Bishan, West Coast etc - but nothing beats Pasir Ris. Why? because the park (where the various playgrounds are) is not 'sandy', despite the name. What a misnomer. WC is sandy, though the sand feels manufactured and artificial. Bishan is BIG. BIG. BIG.

Anyways, back to PS. I was pushing Imin on the swing with the covered seat - you know, the type for children so that they will not fall off. He was having fun. I noticed that Hubs was on the other side, on the swing for adults. Swinging, of course.

A few moments later, Hubs came to me and said: Now, I know the secret.

    I said: What?

    Hubs: How to swing.

Me: What?! What are you talking about? Everyone knows how to swing.

Hubs: No, the action of swinging. How to swing on your own, without having anyone to push you from the back.

Me: YEAH! Everyone knows. You stretch your legs out and push them in.

Hubs: Well, I didnt. I never had the privilege to play the swing when I was young.

Me: You mean, that was your first time on the swing?

    Hubs: Yeah.

Oh err .. ok. I may have known him for 10 years but hmm.. I think I know him slightly more now.
