Oh boy! My eldest son, at 5, is really growing up.
Back to present > just received an sms from Imin (yes, he DOES sms-es, good thing he doesn’t have his own phone … yet). It read: Ibu we are on the way imin revise at quran
I smile. Children are the evidence that time really DOES fly past you.
July 27 BruneiPast 2.30am. Early Sunday morning.
Here I am, seated at the dining table, mugging over words like ‘standardization’, ‘focusing’, ‘reformation’ yada yada …
Slowly, and painfully, but surely (yes, I’m very certain), the words begin swimming around, pulling me along and deep into the currents, my view obstructed by a grayish fog, that seems to be getting foggier and foggier by the minute …
… and suddenly KAPUT! Darkness.
Oh! What? I’ve fallen asleep - forehead, tip of nose and pouted lips, kissing the table, that is oh-so-littered by papers and more papers, notes and more notes, books and more books, pens and more pens. And of course, not to mention, the kerepeks, the half-eaten fruits, the pinch(es) of salt, empty cups of
Oh What? Oh yes .. in a few hours time, I will be sending Ibu Ros off to Brunei. Yippee! She’s really going. I meant, she has always wanted to visit the Oil Land. This time, it’s official business though. Visit is together with some minister called Masagos. So, there’s many protocols to adhere to.
Anyways, my pillar of strength (apart from Hubs) is going to be away for a week. Already, I am missing her …
July 24 G or Q
Yesterday, I had some queries and needed to call X Library. I looked down at the piece of paper I was holding and noted the number. I also saw the email address, which I assumed to be the name of which the number belonged to. It said: 6XXXXXXX, libeng@library.com. These fine words were printed in italics.
I punched in the number.
Me: Hello? May I speak to Libeng?
Voice: Sorry? Libeng?
Me: Yes, Li-Beng.
Voice: Urm.. Sorry, there's no one by that name.
Me: Err.. I'm calling in regards to XXX.
Voice: Oh, I think you are confused. It's not LIBENG. But it's l-i-b-e-n-q, for short Lib Enquiries.
Oops.
Lesson No. 1: Please do not use ITALICS for SMALL-SIZED FONT.

Its All About A Letter
For years, Hubs has been pushing me to get our own

Getting into Gear
Ever met a sour grape who is also in denial? Sheesh … the character/s that I have to put up with 5 days a week. Who is increasingly more interested in poking its nose where it does not belong. The Chinese has a saying that very aptly describe this – empty inside, noisy outside But I guess, that’s life …
Now, where’s my MEMORE tablets? I need enhancement, in preparation of my battle to come. Dig .. dig .. there it is. 2 soft gels for now …
Dear God Please help thy servant here. Who is now sitting at her cubicle, staring at her screen, Her hands cupping the steaming Her eyes seeing nothing.
Yawn.
July 22 Needs Two to Tango, You Know
Sunday, 20 July 2008 Sometime in the afternoon, somewhere in Sentosa.
We wanted to get to the Beach Station. We were from somewhere, and then we decided to hop on the ‘red-line’ bus. I was seated with Imin. Hubs was with Pau2 at the back.
The bus stopped at a stop (duh) near Imbiah. As the bus pulled away, I saw Imbiah Station. I turned around and said, while pointing to the station: Ayah, shouldn’t we get down here? That’s the train station.
Hubs looked at me. He said: Yes, that’s the train station.
Me: Then, why didn’t we alight?
My pitch raised a notch, as I was getting really tired and really anxious to get home. So many things to do on Sundays, you know – laundry, vacuum, packing yada yada …
Hubs didn’t reply. I persisted, my voice bearing a tinge of annoyance. I forgot that he was the walking compass and I, the map-idiot.
Me: We could have alighted here. The next stop would be too far away. I’m tired lah…
I trailed off. I was still looking at him. Hubs didn’t reply. As usual, his lips parted slightly. He glazed over me and looked out to the window. I looked at him, expecting assurance.
Then I noticed the bus was moving towards Beach Station, which was, of course, another stop for the mini train. Hee.
Me: Oh! This bus also goes to Beach Station? Eh, Ayah?
I looked at him,. Hubs didn't even bother to reply. He looked at me sideways, and his expression was - stoic?
Me: Ayah, why didn't you answer?
Silence.
Me: Ayah, ayah dah tak kuasa nak layan ibu eh?
Then we both smiled. I reached out and pinched him playfully. Hee.
After over a decade together, that's what you can expect from a couple > one-sided bickering that goes a loooong way.

Found one phrase that totally suits me now: je stresse completement Quick, do a google! The Advice8.45am Sunday, 20 July 08 We were standing side by side, at the bus stop, waiting for the bus (duh). The boys were roaming around ... somewhere. Hubs: Ibu ... Ibu mesti exercise tau. I looked up at him (literally, as he is, indeed, a head and a half taller than I am) and peered into his (handsome) face. Of course, from where I was positioned, my eyes were scrutinizing his goatee. Hubs did not move his head, but his eyes looked down sideways to me (literally, as I am way shorter than him). His eyes, behind his Transition-ed glasses, were somewhat slitted, opening just a notch for me to notice the pupils and the surrounding whites. I'd think the Malay word for it is JELING. Hubs: You must, you know, Ibu ... exercise. You must build up your strength. Helps you mentally too. Your mental strength is very important in your (...) I continued to look up at him (and almost sighed, of course inaudibly, at this wonderful man who is my husband). I did not respond to his statements – I just looked at him. Hubs – what would I do without you?* *Thank you for making AND taking the effort to make the journey ahead easier for me. Love you ... priceless!
