    Last Day of 2007

Today's the last day of the year.
Ho hum. What will my resolution(s) be?
    A-plenty, if you ask me.

    Let's be realistic
Out of a thousand, one or two I will pick
    Or maybe three or five
The resolutions I will work hard to strive!

    1. Be a better Muslimah (wife, mother, daughter, sister) than past year.
    2. Be a safe(r) driver (To Hubs > Really, I will!)
    3. Get out of my comfort zone (oops..)
    4. Be more independent (sigh, I am seriously lacking in this)
    5. Be (more) thankful of my blessings than worry about my lackness

    Trash That Tri

Hey, I just realised it's past 30th December already!
Know what it means? I can trash my TRIANGLE!
Exactly a year ago, I obtained my license!
    Yee-ha!

The Kite Runner by Khaleed Hosseini

    A highly recommended book.
I cried here and there reading it.

Girl's Leg Caught in MRT Platform Gap

    TODAY Paper – Friday, 28 December 2007.
    By Lin Yanqin

    An excerpt:-
According to the girl's friends who were with her, a fellow commuter called the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) while they tried to comfort her and get her out. "It was very crowded and we kept getting pushed back. People were crowding around and trying to look and take photos of her," said a friend, one of her schoolmates at Northview Secondary School.

I suspect the ‘people who were crowding’ and ‘trying’ to ‘take photos of her’ are active Stompers (
http://www.stomp.com.sg/). Would you people please take a break? Sheesh.

    A 5-Day Holidays

My holidays started from 20 Dec 2007.

Thursday, 20 Dec – Hari Raya Haji Since my sister was going to have an ‘open house’ on Sunday, we did not gather as per usual on Thursday. This year, as usual, we made qurban. Since qurban was early in the morning, at Ansar Mosque, we didn’t go for the sacrificial ritual. Ibu Ros and my brother did though. My brother handled his qurban himself – he did the ritual. An old hand. Thus, when we reached Ibu Ros’s house, it was time for lunch and soon after that, Hubs had to cut up all the qurban meat into smaller pieces – for the main menu (sup tulang) on Sunday. In the afternoon, we went over to my in-law’s.

Friday, 21 Dec After Hubs was back from Friday prayers, we went to Compass Point’s POSB branch. We opened a POSB Trust Account for Pau2. Once Imin turns 5 next month, we plan to open his own savings account. After Compass, we went to Festival Market. Boys had their hair cut.

Saturday, 22 Dec In the morning, we went to Hanis Montessori’s new branch at Tampines. It’s very close to Mak’s house. Next, we drove to Vivo City (again!). And yes, the boys ran amuk. It started raining too. And Pau2 refused to move out of the pool. Sigh.

Sunday, 23 Dec Open house @ Ibu Ros’s house. It went pretty well, except that we had started packing at 4.30pm when some guests came a-knocking! Everyone started scrambling, It was very tiring – I stayed late to help with the cleaning.

Monday, 24 Dec We spent the entire day @ JB. At Plaza Larkin, there’s a new food court, which I very much preferred than the one at Pasar Larkin. It was also at Plaza Larkin that Imin ran right into a glass door. Really. I meant literally. The glass door was almost transparent and he ran right into it! BANG! Luckily, the door didn’t break and he was fine, save for small bump on his forehead. Late evening, we went to Danga Bay for dinner. Maybe, we only went to a small part of DB, but to me, that small part was an overstatement of DB itself. It was highly disappointing.

Tuesday, 25 Dec We totally vegetate. Five days in a row we went out – all out. We do not have much fuel left today. We vegetate @ home.

I am so not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow.

    Sigh.

    Cars, The Movie

This Dec holidays, there's one movie that keeps on playing at my house - at least almost each weekend. We have totally memorised the scripts and sound effects. Pau2 is absolutely crazy about it. Prob, the movie debuted in cinemas here on his birth date, back in 2006 - 09 June.

The TRUIzM Way – Where the Truth Lies (!)

    I’ve just launched TRUIzM.

My Absence Is Not Without Reason.

The last time I updated my blog here was at the beginning of Ramadan. As usual, for those who know me and my style, comes Ramadan, I’d usually cease/stop any other activity. It’s a month of reflection, especially self.

A month passed on and then it was Syawal. I got busy with entertaining and visiting. Simply no breather.

Immediately after, the Annual Scientific Congress came. I was part of the Opening Ceremony. Stood for hours to end. My feet were killing me at that time.

We had a booth too. Had to think of the collaterals, gift bags, posters bla bla. Again, my feet were killing me, as I manned the booth.

Back to back, it was then the annual Research Ethics Forum. My own sub department ran the show. I played a major role in organizing it. Once more, my feet were killing me .. hey, this sounds familiar. How many times have my feet been trying to kill me?

Then, it was the B2BResearch Online campaign. Had to work on the publicity. Once again, my feet .. ah no, not my feet this time. It was mental exhaustion and extreme stress and sheer frustration.

    Alright now.

I’ve managed to breathe better. Watch out for this space!

    ZAZA (Toyota) WISH

If you see this on the road, watch out for the driver. It could be me!

(Driving a autocar is akin to a fish being thrown in waters. Why on earth did I ever learn to drive manual? Why did I bother with clutch, gear, half-clutch bla bla)

By the way, that ZAZA signature – that was done by yours-truly.

    Shallow Waters

They thought it was a pool. They were excited and were tugging at me to change them to their swim suits. I told them, no.. no swim suits. They looked at me and then to the pool. They tested it. They put a leg in and then the other. Then they walked a distance.

They thought it was a pool. They were wrong. It was a pond.

    Nevertheless, they had fun.

Are you aware that the Singapore Science Centre has changed its branding? New name and logo. The place is still the same though – never fail to amaze us.

    Godma Comes to Visit

A long awaited visit by Godma Jeannie, a genius designer and mistress of creativity. As usual, she came bundled up with gifts and gifts and more gifts. And fun too.

And guess what? Godma’s engaged, and getting married soon and will be our neighbour too (Punggol Vista). I can’t wait!

Aidilfitri, 13 October 2007 - A lovely day with deep meaning and reflections for Muslims the world over. We were decked out in purple glory. All four of us.

Alas, you can’t see Hubs. You see, someone has to SNAP THE PICTURE!

And finally this Raya, I got my first taste in driving an autocar. What a difference it makes to drive without a clutch!

    Mr Frog

One night, as usual, after dinner, the boys went for their Quranic recitation classes. It had been raining, as usual, since it was approaching the end of the year (some countries get snow, Singapore gets wet).

During the short walk to Cik Mima’s place (the kind lady who has taught 2 generations of my family – first, myself and then now my boys), the boys were greeted by who-else-would-be-roaming-in-this-wet-weather Mr Frog.

    Eeewee..
