    Why I Married You

Consider a rectangle which is 51 meters wide (horizontal) and 67 meters high (vertical). If a line joins the bottom left corner to the top right of the rectangle, what is the tangent of the angle of this line with the horizontal?

diva ™ says: are they asking for length or angle?

    (after a brief discussion)

diva ™ says: so they asking for angle lah

®يازكاتراز says: no... just the tan@ only... don't have to find angle

®يازكاتراز says: now the question is asking for the answer to tan@

diva ™ says: tan and angle kan sama ... any answer in toa soh cah is given in degrees

®يازكاتراز says: tak sama... if ask for degree than give answer in degrees

®يازكاتراز says: if ask for tan@... then give the answer as tan@

    diva ™ says: *scratch*

diva ™ says: ok.. then 67/51

    ®يازكاتراز says: correct

diva ™ says: how to find tan? on the calculator, press the orange SHIFT first then tan-1 kan

®يازكاتراز says: to find answer in degrees than use shift tan-1

    diva ™ says: 58.58

®يازكاتراز says: but now they not asking for degrees

diva ™ says: oh, kalau nak in degrees then use the tan-1?

    ®يازكاتراز says: correct

®يازكاتراز says: kalau ask for degrees... then dun care if u use sin, cos or tan

diva ™ says: ok ... then 67/51 .. tan .. answer is very weird 0.02

®يازكاتراز says: try find the angle... berape?

    diva ™ says: 58.58

    ®يازكاتراز says: not weird lor

diva ™ says: which is not weird?

diva ™ says: the tan answer is 0.02, the degrees answer is 58.58

®يازكاتراز says: 58.58 is close to 60 degrees... not weird

diva ™ says: but u said they not asking for degrees!

diva ™ says: so cant use that kan

    diva ™ says: *scratch*

®يازكاتراز says: just give 0.02 as the answer

    diva ™ says: ok

®يازكاتراز says: if they ask for angle, they won't mention tan, cos or sin

diva ™ says: they did ..

diva ™ says: see q: what is the tangent of the angle

    (the heat rising)

    ®يازكاتراز says: duh!

    diva ™ says: pe ye?

diva ™ says: sabar ayah sabar

®يازكاتراز says: it's asking of tangent! not angle

diva ™ says: eh? oh .. but got 'angle' in the q mah

®يازكاتراز says: if they ask for sin, you give sin, don't give angle

    diva ™ says: yes ayah

    (storm cooling)

®يازكاتراز says: who is the father of the boy? ans: Ilman or Ayah.

    diva ™ says: Ayah

®يازكاتراز says: but the question got the boy

diva ™ says: yes ayah ..

    Wakey Wakey!

These days weeks, I’ve been a very constant companion to nocturnal beings (which I hope remain invisible, at least to my eyes). I’ve been trying very hard to stay focus, alert and attentive. At times, I succeed but there are instances where my body simply fails to respond to what my brain wants to do. What to do …

In times of silence, in times where my body (and brain) needs stimulation, I totally appreciate those who would ‘nudge’ me awake – or alert.

    How?

By sending me messages via MSN! By gossiping, by talking shop, by talking about anything … anything distracting is extremely helpful in these times.

Ahhh .. what a relief and (literally) an eye-opener. Brain is recharged, albeit a little, but just enough before I embark on the next chapter.

Thanks to all the (living) babes who talk to me past midnight!

    The Awardees

We received delightful news in the mail today. Imin is third and Pau2 is fifth in their madrasah class, based on the latest examination held recently and on 9 Nov, they will be receiving their prizes during Istiqamah Graduation Ceremony @ Serangoon CC.

Actually, there is a lot more behind this examination, which in reality, they almost did not sit for it. I'm 'malas-nak-cakap' when it comes to ithis - needless to say, this issue had me 'talking in controlled speech and volume' with the head of the asatizah there. Hubs and I are already waiting for the Sengkang mosque to be up and ready.

Anyways, the bottom line is, for a fact, the boys did not even have the luxury to study for this exam!

    Sibling Rivalry

    From Whitelili’s blog:-

Today @ 4.30 pm when I was at the centre.
My mobile rang. It was a private number.

    Me : Hello?

Ilman : Kakak, can you cut Abang Imin?
    Me : Huh? Cut? Why?
Ilman : Because he closed your room's door and locked me inside.
    Me : Oh.
( Imin is heard wailing from the background )
Me : But if I cut Abg Imin up, he will not be alive anymore. Wun you be sad?
Ilman : Never mind! He is so naughty.

    Ok, so where's the scissors?

    Jolt Me, Please!

    Presently ...
    1. A cup of good-ol'-cuppa Coffee cup is infront of me.
    2. A melted cheese Pizza sandwich is awaiting to be devoured.
    3. I'm so ... so ... sleepy.

    Update of the Day

Coming to 2am. I'd better call it a day (err ..night?) -
else, I would be no good at my ethics work tomorrow
    (err ... today?).

    Previously ...
I've snacked - 2 slices of white bread with melted cheese Pizza inbetween.
Oh yum .. and of course, the good-ol'-cuppa Coffee cup.

    Currently ...
    1. My back is (almost) breaking (after sitting for 4 hours).
    2. My eyesight is blurring.
    3. My body is aching (oh go away, you fever you!)
    4. (but) My mind is (surprisingly) still alert (prob the caffeine).

    Last but not least ..

    5. I'm (still) hungry.

    A Discovery @ Midnight

Michael Fraser tried to make a (comedic) estimation on the size of the Earth … and other planets, including the sun.

They say, this is a small world – and by that, we could safely conclude that ‘world’ here can be referenced to the Earth as well.

After watching Fraser’s attempt, we may want to rethink on how ‘small’ this Earth is. Or perhaps, it may not be accurate to say ‘this is a small world’ – anymore.

    ‘Small’ is an understatement.

Not War, I'm Talking About Here ...

Last weekend, Imin was assigned a Malay homework – for Malay. The instruction was to ‘warnakan dengan warna perang’.

Hubs and I were stumped as to what ‘warna perang’ was. ‘Perang’, as I know it, is what you would describe a ‘blonde’ (yellow?, yellow-ish white?) or ‘brunette’ (brownish?). We called the Expert-in-Malay-Language’ aka Ibu Ros – who, unfortunately, was not able to provide the answer at that time, under the circumstances.

Yesterday, I watched CSI. In one scene, one character was describing how preservation of a human head was done. Among the steps was to ‘tan the skin’ – as ‘to sun it’ – for a few days. I happened to catch the Malay subtitles at that point. ‘To tan’ is translated to ‘perangkan’.

    Hmm…

Earlier, I asked Ibu Ros again about it. She said ‘warna perang’ was deep red or reddish. I would think, after the CSI episode, ‘perang’ was more to ‘brownish’ – as in ‘to tan’ oneself.

I check Wiki. Here’s what is stated > Warna perang ialah warna merah tua atau jingga yang mempunyai keamatan berluminositi yang amat rendah.

Wiki provides the RGB values for ‘perang’, which is R150, G75, B0. I launch Photoshop and check the values.

Guess what? Ibu Ros was right and I think I am right too. ‘Perang’ is actually brownish-red.

    Fib It!

I’ve just learned something and I would like to share with you.

Do you know what the Fibonacci number system is? You can do a quick google on it – else, allow me to simplify it for you – the Fib number system starts with 0 and 1 and the subsequent numbers are the sum of the previous two numbers. Thus, the Fib number system goes like this > 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8 … Get the picture?

Now, list down the first 10 or 20 numbers of the Fib system. Next, look for any plants or flowers. Count the leaves and/or petals. It will be of no coincidence that the total number of leaves/petals would be one of the numbers in the Fib system.

    Praise God!

(Told you I am 'bored' and 'in need of stimulation')

    Currently ...

    ... I'm hungry.

    Concurrently, I'm

    1. stressed.

    2. tired - physically.

    3. sleepy.

    4. exhausted - mentally.

    5. aching.

    6. bored.

    7. in need of stimulation (read: mindless gossip).

    8. not sad, but not entirely happy either.

    9. anxious.

    10. panicking.

    11. listening to Class.

    12. racing against time.

    13. stuffing my brains.

    14. restless.

    15. contented.

    16. thinking of my quilt.

    17. (no.16) and resisting the temptation to crawl under it.

    18. under the weather.

    19. visualizing the trauma ahead.

    20. thinking of you, you and you.

"I used to think that love was just a fairy tale
Until that first hello, until that first smile
But if I had to do it all again
    I wouldn't change a thing
    Cause this love is everlasting
Suddenly, life has new meaning to me
    There's beauty up above and
things we never take notice of
Wake up and suddenly you're in love"

    The Champion

Yesterday was the corporate annual ACTIVE DAY and it was the first year that we participated as a department on our own, since we broke away from the parent-department in Sept 2008 (it’s complicated).

Loads of fun, and the best part was we emerged as the CHAMPION!

Ibu .. Ibu .. Engkaulah Ratu Hati ku ...

    From Sugarland, USA ...

Real Mothers know that a child's growth is not measured by height or years or grade.
It is marked by the progression of Mama to Mom to Mother.

    The Images of Mother:
4 YEARS OF AGE - My Mama can do anything!
8 YEARS OF AGE - My Mom knows a lot! A whole lot!
12 YEARS OF AGE - My Mother doesn't really know quite everything.
14 YEARS OF AGE - Naturally, Mother doesn't know that, either.
16 YEARS OF AGE - Mother? She has no clue!
18 YEARS OF AGE - That old woman? She's way out of date!
25 YEARS OF AGE - Well, she might know a little bit about it.
35 YEARS OF AGE - Before we decide, let's get Mom's opinion.
45 YEARS OF AGE - Wonder what Mom would have thought about it?
65 YEARS OF AGE - Wish I could talk it over with Mom.

    Chillaks Lah ...

The other day, I was talking with Cactus about the ‘stresses here there everywhere’ and how to overcome it yada yada …

Then, she said to me: Eh … Chillaks lah …

    I looked at her. Huh?

Chillaks lah … Tak tahu ke? Youngsters nowadays use it, you know. Chillaks is for Chill and Relaks … Chillaks lah sister … Take a chill pill… gitu …

Oh boy. Ok I gotta keep up. I dread to think about the slang my children would eventually use.

    *Unplugged*

At 1.30am in the morning, I am now having my second Coffee cup in 2 hours.

It is indeed a struggle to train a matured brain, after a hard day’s work,

to understand concepts and commit to memory lengthy processes.

A struggle, indeed … not easy, not simple,
    but yet, not impossible.
